About the workshop

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. An 8 week course with free intro session on 2nd May. The sessions will take place on Thursdays in the Therapy yurt between 12 Noon and 2pm. Mindfulness is a natural state of being that we can develop and strengthen through practice. Jon Kabitt Zin developed Mindfulness for stress reduction defines mindfulness as the “awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.” MBCT is a practical and friendly course where you are encouraged to develop a kind attitude to experience. You will learn different Mindfulness exercises and have opportunities to explore your meditation experiences. Mindfulness helps us develop greater awareness of thoughts, emotions and experiences, which can help us relate to life and stress in ways that can bring more ease and happiness. Mindfulness is a field that has been growing over the last 40 years and there is substantial evidence to show that MBCT can improve wellbeing. Classes run over 8 weeks and are two hours long. There is also a precourse introductory session. Everyone is encouraged to participate in as much they wish to. Alongside classes you are encouraged to engage in home practice, about 20-40 minutes a day. Home practice can really enhance and embed learning. After booking you will be sent a questionnaire to complete. Generally MBCT is not recommended for those in the midst of unsettling life events. Sasha has been practising meditation for about 30 years and qualified as an MBCT teacher from Sussex Mindfulness Centre.
