The Hibernating Bear
Qigong, Yin & Sound bath | Friday 16th January 10-1pm | with Kate Harding & Lois Richards
About the workshop
The Hibernating Bear: Qigong, Yin & Soundbath Workshop As winter deepens, nature invites us to rest, retreat and replenish. In Chinese medicine, this is the season of the Water element - a time to nurture your kidney energy, restore vitality and cultivate inner stillness. This restorative workshop combines Qigong, Yin Yoga and Sound healing to harmonise your energy and support your body's natural rhythms through the darker months. We'll begin with gentle Qigong movements inspired by the Bear frolics, one of the ancient animal practices. The bear teaches us to move slowly and deliberately - awakening the spine, kidneys and lower back while grounding in strength and presence. From this embodied flow we'll sink into a deeply nourishing Yin Yoga sequence focused on the Kidneys and Bladder meridians, inviting suppleness through the lower back, hips, and legs. The long held postures create space for your body's energy to circulate and restore balance, while fostering courage, trust and calm within. We will close with a Sound Bath - ' a hibernating Bear journey' - where the vibrations of crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, and gentle percussion lull the nervous system into deep rest. This meditative soundscape evokes the wisdom of winter: still waters, inner reflection and quiet renewal. This practice is suitable for beginners and all abilities. A nourishing tea break will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing and optionally bring a blanket and pillow for the sound bath. Price: £45
