About the workshop

Yogatherapy for Fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions Fibromyalgia, also called fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body. Symptoms of fibromyalgia vary from person to person but include tiredness, brain fog , widespread pain and headaches. Research tells us that although is a chronic condition symptoms can be eased and managed with lifestyle changes and gentle movement: however there is still very little information and understanding of this debilitating condition.Yoga is beautifully placed as an effective way to manage chronic pain conditions such as Fibromyalgia, not only with gentle movement practices (asanas), but with the use of desensitising practices including pranayama and mindfulness . Silvia Laurenti, is a HPC-registered Physiotherapist, qualified at the University of Brighton in 2007. She has been working extensively in the NHS and private practice. Silvia is also a qualified Yoga and Pilates teacher with a passion for teaching experiential anatomy. For the past 10 years, she has been delivering embodiment and anatomy workshops to yoga and movement teachers. She is the clinical lead for Connect Health Pain Services in the South where she integrates physiotherapy, somatic practices and yoga therapy for the management of complex chronic pain conditions. Silvia also offers training in yoga therapy for pain to yoga professionals who want to understand best practices, precautions, and how to apply various aspects of yoga successfully. We are delighted that Silvia is returning The Yoga Garden to offer a series of four workshops this year that will benefit both beginners to yoga and yoga professional alike.
